Secret Thief was written whilst working a filthy job digging holes on sites all around the U.K. which happens to be referred to in the chorus. This is a ‘swoony’ love song, it’s just all feel, at the time I was miserable working away from my girl for weeks on end. Sometimes those songs that you just have a feeling are going to be great take very little time to write, almost as if they are already with you just dying to fall onto the paper. This happened to be one of those, it was all pretty much written in my head as I was whistling the melody whilst shovelling dirt and swearing at worms. Things didn’t work out for me and her unfortunately but I’m happy this song is a testament from my side to those moments together and that we are both happy in new chapters of our lives. That’s the beauty of artistic value for me being able to create something permanent as a statement when we are constantly evolving and changing.
