about
The Fool refers to the fine lines between love and hate. The first verse is packed full of polar opposites suggesting want, need and affection but counteracted with loneliness and a lack of care in handling another’s love. It’s a nod towards all of our relationships, friendships, families that can be at times intense and passionate or non-existent and distant when they’re gone. The Fool in this case refers to a once close friend who appeared to come across playful and foolish however was very destructive, maybe without knowing that. We kind of liked the term ‘A wise man knows himself to play the Fool’ so became the catalyst for the track. In its truest form this song is one we’ve all experienced somewhere along in life, the irony is this song was written year’s before its release about a past situation/scenario but it’s fitting in every sense for a more recent relationship. I think the lesson in that typifies the whole song that whilst ever life can at times taste so sweet and everything can seem so wonderful it does have that ability to rear its ugly head and to accept that as the polar opposite such as love and hate, life and death.
lyrics
Come to me, my love, my darling from above
Drag my bones and body across the sand
There’s a place you’ll know where only our love grows
You left me in the lurch man you did me wrong
C’est la vie let it be you almost followed me
A leopard can’t change its spots but you can change the world
Two years done nothing for you
And your words, so cold
Tribal funk tunes from California
Spun your head, your head, your head
Dust the road with your heels, this one’s to make you feel
You pay for it in time with your lonesome thoughts
You can tell this one’s about you to summarise it for you
The wise man knows himself to play the fool
Two years done nothing for you
And your words, so cold
Tribal funk tunes from California
Spun your head, your head, your head
Two years done nothing for you
And your words, so cold
Tribal funk tunes from California
Spun your head, your head, your head
